How many people remodel their kitchen each year?

The NKBA report, Estimated Market Value for the Kitchen & Bath Remodeling and New Residential Construction Markets, reveals that every year homeowners remodel more than 10.2 million kitchens (approximately one in 10 homes) and 14.2 million bathrooms, two of the most important rooms in a house. This starts an expensive and wasteful cycle, as perfectly functional kitchens are uprooted and remodeled every time a house changes hands. They, like all designers, are dedicated to helping their clients furnish their homes, but they are not fans of automatic kitchen remodels. 24 percent renovate their kitchen a little larger (up to 50% larger), while six percent significantly increase the size of their kitchen (more than 50%).

35 percent say their kitchen is in urgent need of renovation, while 29 percent say their kitchen is old and broken.
